Four Bites 101 summer semester: July 15, Peking Quick One; July 23, Alibaba Kebab Amherst; Aug. 6 Alibaba Kebab Kenmore

Four Bites 101’s summer semester starts July 15, with Northern Chinese 101 at Peking Quick One in Tonawanda.

The $30 ticket is your invitation to learn about Chinese homestyle cooking from northern China, which leans on potatoes and cabbage. Pork dumplings, Sichuan cucumbers, spicy shredded stir-fried potatoes, sour cabbage with noodles and pork, crispy jalapeno fish, and poached spicy slices of pork make up the menu. Plus a soft drink.

You eat, I explain how it’s made, what it’s made of, and where to get the ingredients if you want to make it yourself. The event starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday July 15 at Peking Quick One, 359 Somerville Ave., Tonawanda. (Get tickets here)

Guests can also get copies of Where to Eat in Buffalo 2026, my guide to Buffalo’s independent restaurants, bakeries, and artisans, for $9.99, $4 off the cover price.

Indian 101 continues Thursday July 25, 6 p.m. at Alibaba Kebab Amherst, 7880 Transit Road (Get tickets here), and Aug. 6 at Alibaba Kebab Kenmore, 827 Military Road. (Get tickets here)

That’s a buffet of butter chicken and chana masala with basmati rice, beef kebabs, tandoori wings, buttered fresh naan, vegetable samosas with mint chutney, and galub jamun. Plus a mango lassi or other drink.

Thirty dollars includes tax, tip, and some dangerously delicious knowledge. Space is limited, so reserve your seat now at fourbites.net/shop.
